Back in the '70s, third-generation restaurateur
James C. Kokas had a dream: to open an upscale restaurant in downtown
Detroit. By the mid-'80s, all was in place: the transformation of an old
taxi garage on East Larned Street into a fine dining restaurant called
Opus One. From the building's updated facade to the meticulous interior
details, the appearance of the restaurant is today a glowing reflection
of that hard work and fine planning.
